Our Christmas Concert was enjoyed by many and included new and familiar works.  People enjoyed the Advent hymns and music in preparation for Christmas.  Entitled A CHRISTMAS JOURNEY the music was hugely enjoyable to learn and the slightly earlier time of 5.30 was appreciated on a cold winter's evening.

AUTUMN CONCERT

We welcomed Forest Madrigal Society to Ledbury as a visiting choir in September and enjoyed a varied and entertaining day of rehearsals with them all.  Thanks to everyone who contributed.  We hope they may visit again as they fell in love with the country surrounding Ledbury and particularly the after party at The Feathers!  Forest Madrigal in concert with LCS Music Director joining in.

We've enjoyed a busy few months concluding on Friday 17th June with MIDSUMMER MUSIC a concert for midsummer (whenever that was!).  A programme of old and new music, preceded by a glass of wine to an appreciative audience made the most of a June evening.  We will take some of the music to Nuremburg next May when we hope to join members of the Schwarzenbruck Chor in the Luther Celebrations.

AFTER four solid months of rehearsals both in Bromyard and Ledbury, this concert in support of Christian Aid took place on a fine Spring Evening at the end of April.  With an orchestra of 63 and a chorus of 140 Sir Richard Mynors produced an uplifting and stupendous result!

With our own Music Director Malcolm Macleod on the organ, the Cathedral was filled with the magnificent strains of pure Elgar in this most complex of works.  The soloists delivered a moving and balanced performance which simply took some peoples' breath away.

With Elgar's haunting leit motifs running through the work, the orchestra filled the space with light and shade and great sensitivity.

We were enormously privileged to  have had the opportunity to sing under Richard in both the Verdi Requiem at Malvern and for this The Kingdom in Hereford.  It was where Elgar last conducted and this was the piece upon which he laid down his baton for the last time.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in making it happen - we hope we thanked you all.

if you would like a souvenir programme, please ask a member of the choir - the money will go to Christian Aid.

JOYFUL MUSIC was our Christmas Concert in St Michael's Church on 12th December.  we included Britten's Hymn to St Cecilia which proved a challenge but the audience joined in heartily with the congregational carols old and new and enjoyed a festive mince pie and glass of wine during the interval.  We are always delighted with the loyal support from the community and hope you enjoyed the event.

Following the successful Come & Sing Choral Workshop in September a number of new members have joined the Society.  Following the workshop we performed Mozart's Requiem to an appreciative audience.  Well done to all who sang and thanks to Malcolm Macleod, Philip Holland and Kathryn Hindle.
